Jelenga Beach


Jelenga Beach is located in a tranquil place of Sumbawa Island – Indonesia. It belongs to Sumbawa Barat District. Few years ago volley balls tournament of Indonesia is held there.

Clear water and white sand is the favourite beach in the world, those all Jelenga beach has. Look at the tree with no leaves, it’s a exotic view of the beach. It is a wild beach and very nature, without modern facilities there – except one village near the beach.

We can access this place by four wheels vehicle. It needs three hours from Tano harbour – a harbour lies in the east of Sumbawa Island. There is Jelenga village near the beach. Because of national volley tournament ever held , part of the street to the beach is covered by hotmix and still has a smooth surface, and the other part is not smoot anymore as a narrow village street. Sumbawa Barat district is dominated with stone mountains which full of minerals. That why the land is very dry in dry season, the plant is going brown everywhere like the picture bellow.

In some place we can meet a group of monkeys down from the hill to look for food, because arid habitat doesn’t supplied fruits they need. Some people stop by to give them food, or the monkeys look for food near the village that has green tree already.
